From festivals to demonstrations and sports competitions, we can be confronted with all kinds of crisis situations, such as accidents, natural disasters or terrorist attacks. An important and recurring aspect of these events or situations is the need to guarantee the security of the citizens. The so-called \u201cfirst responders\u201d play a leading role in this. These are the persons\/agencies (fire department, civil protection, ambulance, etc.) that offer first aid and assist with security problems that arise in the context of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events can be defined as any event, whether recreational (sports competitions, music festivals, etc.) or public order (events, threats, etc.), large or small, with a multidisciplinary impact on security and intervention services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crisis management is understood to mean: the management of any event that causes or may cause harmful consequences to the life of society, such as a serious disturbance to public safety, a serious threat to the life or health of persons and\/or to important material interests, and where the coordination of several disciplines is required to eliminate the threat or to limit the harmful consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cEvent<s>s<\/s> and Crisis Management\u201d working group provides both practical and scientific expertise on all aspects related to the prevention, control and handling of events and crisis situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre wants to reach a variety of target groups with the \u201cEvent<s>s<\/s> and Crisis Management\u201d working group, such as <s>. More specifically, these are<\/s> emergency planning officers, provincial and federal emergency planning departments and federal health inspectors. In addition, efforts will be made to involve the various fire department zones, the local police zones and the cities and municipalities in the operation of the working group. In addition, the organizers of (music) festivals and sports competitions will also be approached.
